Purpose of the Role

The Designer plays a key role in interpreting architectural drawings and understanding the creative vision behind each design. This includes reviewing shop drawings from initial sign-off through to production, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with design intent.

You will support Sales Managers by providing technical input and design expertise throughout the project lifecycle, helping to secure and deliver successful outcomes in architectural environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support during sales meetings
• Collaborate with architects and clients throughout the project lifecycle
• Assist in the development of bespoke design solutions and adaptations
• Review and interpret tender drawings to assess project scope and identify potential challenges
• Offer design detailing and technical advice to sales representatives and clients
• Produce accurate shop drawings in line with product schedules for manufacturing
• Design technical solutions for installation, custom parts, or support systems
• Coordinate with design and production teams to develop bespoke or specialised components

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, with the ability to read and interpret architectural drawings to a high standard
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks is advantageous but not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities in a technical context
  • Degree or diploma in design, architecture, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong 3D visualisation skills with the ability to translate into 2D technical drawings
  • Good understanding of construction methods and building technologies
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to development and innovation

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in a design support or customer service environment, ideally within architecture, construction, or a related industry
  • Experience handling client enquiries, providing quotations, and supporting the sales process
  • Background in technical sales or project coordination is beneficial
