Purpose of the Role

A newly launched and well-funded fire protection company is seeking a Head Design Engineer to join its growing team. Backed by a long-established and highly reputable mechanical services firm, the company has already secured major residential and commercial contracts and is preparing for a full-scale launch this September.

This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role from day one, shaping the design arm of a business with strong financial backing, experienced leadership, and a clear path for growth.

About the Role

As Head Design Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the complete sprinkler system design process across residential and commercial projects
  • Collaborate directly with company leadership (including a mechanically trained director) to build and structure the design department
  • Establish and implement design standards, workflows, and tools
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure high-quality, compliant fire protection systems
  • Contribute during tendering and planning stages
  • Conduct weekly site visits (within the M25) to oversee implementation and ensure design alignment
  • Mentor and train junior engineers to develop a skilled and effective design team

 

What we are looking for

  • Fully qualified under LPC (Loss Prevention Certification Board)
  • Proven experience in sprinkler system design across both residential and commercial sectors
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards (LPC, BS EN, NFPA, etc.)
  • Proficient with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)
  • Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring junior team members
  • Eagerness to join a fast-growing company at an early stage and make a lasting impact
