Senior Estimator
Purpose of the Role
As a Senior Estimator, you will play a key role in the preconstruction process by reviewing project documentation, preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, and collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners. You will be instrumental in helping the business secure future work, contributing to its continued success and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of detailed cost estimates from first principles for commercial construction projects
Analysis of drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive tenders
Working with the preconstruction and delivery teams to ensure smooth project handovers
Supporting bid submissions and participating in value engineering and cost planning
Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations
Monitoring market conditions to inform pricing strategies and procurement
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a confident and experienced estimator with a solid understanding of the UK construction market. You will be someone who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high quality work.
You will ideally possess:
Strong experience in an estimating role (not surveying)
A proven track record in commercial tendering, including Design & Build and traditional contracts
Experience pricing projects in the £1m to £10m range
Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills
A proactive and detail oriented approach
Willingness to be office based in Colchester
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Industry experience is essential.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
